Aikido in Louisa

Aikido is an effective, yet non-violent, traditional Japanese martial arts form. As a discipline of personal refinement, Aikido is non-competitive, good exercise, and fun! Through functional movements for effective self-defense, Aikido is helpful in developing coordination and reflexes and teaches one how to deal with the stresses of daily living and acquire a general sense of well-being. The ultimate goal in Aikido is for the individual to develop mental, physical, and spiritual integration, enhancing one’s strengths and minimizing one’s weaknesses. Aikido is an on-going program which will continue throughout the year. This class is for ages 13 through adult. Beginners get individual attention from the instructor and senior students to become familiar with the basics of Aikido practice. Aikido offers adults principles that can be applied to everyday life, emphasizing peaceful resolution of conflicts, improved self-confidence, and enhanced teambuilding skills, resulting in a newly acquired respect for themselves and their peers. Jeff Martin, who has over 13 years of experience, is the instructor. There WILL be class during Spring Break. Weather related make-up dates will be added to the session in which they occur with the next new start date being postponed until each session consists of 8 classes.
