Louisa Gators Swim Team
The Louisa County Gators Swim Team, sponsored by LCPR, is open to all area residents ages 5 through 18. The Gators compete in the Jefferson Swim League (JSL) against other teams in the Charlottesville area. Practices are held most weekdays in the morning and/or evening. Specific practice times are based on the swimmer’s age and ability. All practices are held at the Louisa County Aquatic Facility. There are 7 swim meets throughout the season, with 3 of the 7 being held at home. The season culminates July 27 and 28 with the Championship Meet at the UVA Aquatic Facility.
The Gators are family oriented and provide activities for the whole family throughout the summer. We like competition, but the Gator experience is not all about winning. We focus on being part of a team: improving skills and self-esteem, being active, having LOTS of fun, practicing good sportsmanship, and ALWAYS doing our best! To join the Gators, swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted (one length of the pool).
For the 2012 season, there are two financial options for the early bird registration special: 1) $160 for the first child, $150 for each additional child in same family, with a commitment to raise $100 in fundraising fees for each registered swimmer (including those who transition over from the PREP team) OR 2) $260 for the first child and $250 for each additional child from the same family with no fundraising obligation to be met. To take advantage of these early bird fees, registration must be paid in full by April 21, 2012. After that date, fees increase by $15 per swimmer. Payment plans are available but all accounts must be paid in full by June 1, 2012 in order to swim for the 2012 season. Registration fee includes swim cap, team t-shirt, and JSL swimmer insurance fee. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. Team swim suits are required and must be purchased by all new members. Goggles will not be provided but are highly recommended.
Please attend one of the following team registration dates and meet our Head Coach. Registration dates are March 7 from 6 until 8 p.m., March 23 from 6 until 8 p.m., April 21 from 1 until 4 p.m. (last day for early bird fee reduction), and May 8 from 6 until 8 p.m. All registration dates are at the Betty Queen Center. Payments may be made at any of these registration dates or at the Parks and Recreation office during regular business hours.
