American Red Cross GuardStart

If you are between the ages of 11 and 14 and have considered becoming a lifeguard, this is a great first step. Get a jump start on securing a future job as a lifeguard by completing the Red Cross StarGuard: Lifeguarding Tomorrow programs! Learn what it takes to be a great lifeguard. The experience you gain through GuardStart will help you prepare for lifeguard training. GuardStart focuses on five key areas: prevention of aquatic accidents, fitness and swimming skills, response in an emergency, leadership skills, and professionalism. This 16 hour course is designed for youth to provide a foundation of aquatic and leadership knowledge, attitudes and skills for future successful completion of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses. Class dates are June 21 through June 25 from 11:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Louisa County Aquatic Facility. The fee is $50. Only 15 people may attend this class. Pass this course and LCAF allows you to come to the pool without having to have an adult present.
