Louisa Gators!

Louisa Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that the Gordonsville Gators swim team has now officially moved to Louisa and is now the Louisa Gators. Sponsored by LCPR, the Louisa Gators swim team is open to all area residents ages 5 through 18. The Gators are part of the Jefferson Swim League and compete against other teams in the area including F.A.S.T., Key West, Crozet, ACAC in Charlottesville, and Fairview. When you join the Gators, you become part of the Gator Family. We like competition, but it’s not all about winning! We ARE all about being part of a team, improving our skills, being active, having lots of fun, practicing good sportsmanship, and always doing our best. All practices are held in the mornings, 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Mondays through Fridays, and in the evenings 6:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Practice times will be determined by your child’s age and abilities. All practices are held at the Louisa County Aquatic Facility at 530 Industrial Drive, behind the Betty Queen Center. Swim meets are held on Wednesday evenings at 6:00 p.m. at either Louisa County Aquatic Facility or other JSL swim team facilities. Practices begin May 18 and the JSL Swim Championships will be held the weekend of July 25th. Even if you have never been on a swim team before, no one gets “cut” from our team. We will work with all swimmers to improve his/her strokes. It may take a while before everyone is ready to swim in a meet, but anyone can join. The registration fee is $160.00 per child. This fee covers team coaches’ salaries, our JSL registration fee, swim caps, goggles, and T-shirts for team members. Payment plans are available. Swim suits are purchased separately and are approximately $55 for girls and $35 for boys. As a Gator parent, volunteerism is mandatory, especially during swim meets.
