Looking for a good scare for the Halloween season? The Haunting of Louisa will take you on a stroll that you will never forget! Enter the grounds of the Betty Queen Center Disc Golf Trails for a hair-raising adventure that will have your heart racing. Spooky creatures, zombies, goblins, and characters from Louisa’s past await you as you wander through the woods during the dark of night. This is no ordinary walk in the park! Everyone goes in ... most will come out!
The Haunting of Louisa is NOT recommended for those under the age of 12 and parental permission is required for minors to attend.

Louisa’s Hometown Celebration of Fall! Join us at our 14th Annual Fall Harvest Festival at Walton Park on October 14th. This event includes activities the whole family will enjoy - crafts, hayrides, bounceables, and children’s activities, plus great country music by the Marc Ellis Band who will be on stage from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. New this year are pony rides by Serenity Farms Equine Sanctuary, and a pumpkin patch for the kids! Even the Mineral Farmers Market is at the park for the day offering the best from local farmers. Additional crafters will be set up and children’s games will start at 9:00 a.m. and continue until 2:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is FREE and there is NO charge for the kids to play all the games and enjoy the bounceables. Mark your calendars and make your plans now to attend! Our Fall Harvest Festival is always the best event of the fall!

Louisa County Parks, Recreation & Tourism proudly presents a new special event: the Louisa County Teen Summit. Scheduled for Saturday, November 18th, the theme for this event is #MOTIVATION. Featuring interactive sessions on topics such as making responsible choices, finding your purpose, leadership building, and a healthier you, this dynamic FREE conference will engage youth ages 11 through 17 and challenge all attendees to make a difference in their own lives and in their communities! An After-Party will be held immediately following this event, with a DJ and fun games for all who attended the summit. You must register for the Teen Summit in order to participate; just call our office or register online. Free event t-shirt to all who register by November 2nd! “Be the change you want to see in the world.”

Join us for this wonderful community holiday tradition that will definitely put you in the Christmas spirit. Enjoy musical performances, decorate your own ornament, sing some carols, and watch as we flip the switch for the lighting of the big Christmas Tree on the lawn of the Louisa Courthouse. For a $10 donation, you may endow a light on this year’s tree in someone’s memory or honor. These names will be read at the tree lighting ceremony. Or you may become an ornament sponsor for a donation of $100 to $1,000. For more information, contact Tabethia Chiles, LCPRT’s Tourism and Special Events Recreation Supervisor at 967-4443.

Our special pancake breakfast with Santa has become a holiday favorite for Louisa’s young and young-at-heart! First, join Santa and his helpers as you fill your tummy with fluffy pancakes, bacon, cereal, and other yummy food. Then parents may take photos of their children enjoying their special moment with the jolly man as they share their Christmas wish list. All participants attending must purchase a breakfast ticket. This is a great family event filled with memories for children, parents, and grandparents alike! Please join us for our 13th Annual Breakfast with Santa.

The Louisa Christmas Festival & Parade are two Holiday traditions that you always look forward to attending! This year, we are going all out in celebration of Louisa County’s 275th Birthday! The festival, which is held from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in the Courthouse Square is a great place to do some Christmas shopping, enjoy a cup of cocoa, and get into the Christmas spirit. Our vendors have all kinds of gift ideas; all types of Christmas wares, woodcrafts, jewelry, Tupperware, Scentsy, Pampered Chef, wreaths, and quilts are just some of the items that have been for sale in years past. Admission is free for all shoppers. At 2:00 p.m., LCPRT’s parade Celebrating 275 Years of Louisa History starts at Meadow Avenue and travels down Main Street. Whether you have a float, are part of a marching group, or have some fancy antique car, it’s free to enter the parade, but you MUST pre-register. You can download a registration form from our website or call our office and we can send you one.
